Mason at 6 months!

A writer I am not.  God gave me other talents but that isn't one of them.  So I may stumble as I write this blog, or letters, or birthday cards, or...never mind.  My point is I started this blog to document Mason and his journey into our family and our journey as we waited for him.  So I apologize in advance for my writing, I write like I talk.  Just a disclaimer :o)  Now on to more important things.

Mason will be six months on Friday.  6 whole months (five months in our care)!! We have watched him grow from a small peanut into a good size turkey.  And our once affect-less baby, now smiles and laughs, coos and invites attention! It has been AMAZING to watch!

We LOVE this little man! The boys have grown so close to him.  Tyler gets up in the morning and he goes right to Mason's crib to see if he's awake.  Mason smiles when he sees him and I know Tyler feels loved because of it.  Tyler needs that, he's my boy that struggles with feeling loved.

Dylan's mornings are spent "talking" with Mason and making up songs about how much he loves him.  It is very cute to watch, and my heart leaps with their growing bond.

Steve and I are so thankful that God chose us to be his daddy and mommy.  We are learning so much, we are trusting so much, and we are stretching so much.  We are surrendering all to the Lord, knowing, trusting, and stretching our faith, with all that Mason is and is to become.

God gives you what you need, not always what you want, BUT with Mason we got both!

Dylan singing and other cool things

Today was our last social worker visit.  The next time we will see her is on the steps of the court house.  This should happen in April!!

Dylan came home today with a song on his lips.  Not unusal, we just got it on video!

Enjoy!

Ahhhhhh

I'd love to introduce you to Mason's new best friend
and we couldn't be more thrilled!!

Silly huh?! but until now Mason has NEEDED to suck but just couldn't.  We could not find a pacifier that wouldn't gag him and that he would accept.  So on a whim at the dollar store one day I bought one thinking, why not, then we could say we had tried them ALL.
This one worked..no gaging
...and he readily accepted it
...and there was peace.

Except for it being the ugliest color combination I've ever seen we are happy, and he is too!

Mason Update

SO many things to say.
SO many blessings.
SO many smiles.
This is not to say there haven't been struggles we've all had our share of tears, and we are working on redefining our "normal".

Birth to Three will be coming weekly to help encourage his development.
He is working hard on strengthening his core, and is not very happy about it.

Today we saw the eye Dr, who says they think surgery is needed, but not just yet.
and patching his good eye (right) is a good idea, but not just yet
and maybe an MRI, but you guessed it... not just yet.

He is easily overstimulated so my mind is constantly analyzing his environment...it's emotionally exhausting sometimes.  Here is how I see it:
Newborns are a puzzle.
Adopted Newborns are a constant puzzle.
Adopted Newborns who are easily overstimulated are a constant complex puzzle.
and I know this doesn't just apply to newborns...bigger kids ;bigger problems.

But there is SO much good too:
Mason is growing like a weed. In one week he gain almost a pound...guess he's eating OK :o)
He enjoys bananas, peaches, sweet potatoes, and squash..He does not like green beans, but who can blame him.

He is getting to know his family.  He is soothed by touch and loves to snuggle.  He is particuarly snuggly with his Mama (which I have to say suits me just fine:o)

and when he smiles, his whole face smiles...and if you tickle him just so, he giggles.  And those smiles and giggles warm my heart, strengthen my trust, and remind me just how lucky we are!! It shows how much our Heavenly Father loves us, to entrust us with this special gift!
